Obituary

Theresa M. McGilton , Fremont, Theresa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in late summer 2020. She said, “It is God’s will to heal me just the same as it is God’s will to save me.” God healed and saved her from further pain by peacefully bringing her home to Him on February 23, 2021.
Theresa faithfully trusted in God’s promises, power, wisdom, and love to manage her abundant life. She was a humble student and joyful worshipper of Jesus who lived her life rooted in the all-sufficient, amazing grace of God.
She dedicatedly served as a Speech and Language Pathologist for children with special needs for 34 years through Sandusky County Educational Services Center and Northpoint Educational Services Center. Theresa generously gave of her time with a cheerful heart. She cherished meeting the individual needs of each of her students, and saw every interaction as an opportunity to build relationships and gently show Jesus’ unfailing love to all people.

Theresa selflessly and lovingly raised her four daughters, Ashley, Alyssa, Kaitlyn and Emily. She is survived by all four of her girls including three grandchildren, Finnegan, Samuel and Sophia. Her heart’s desire is for others to overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. She said, “The Joy of Jesus is a spring that never runs dry, and by trusting him with our concerns we are availing ourselves of His Joy and Peace.”

Theresa practiced God-given patience and loving kindness, especially through the challenging and difficult seasons of her life. She pressed into God’s presence and trusted His strength within her to fight her battles. Her faith was unshakable because God’s strength is unbreakable.

Family services were held and she was entombed in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.

Theresa was truly an exceptional lady. She has worked with, prayed for, and visited our son, Elliot over the last 7 years. Her work was not a job, it was a calling. She lived her faith, and we are blessed to have known someone so wonderful. We are praying for you, and wish to express our heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this difficult time.

I am saddened to read of Theresa's illness and death. She served as the Speech Therapist at Sacred Heart School for a few years; I was a teacher there. She had such a peaceful nature and a genuine smile. Be assured of my prayers for all of you who love her.
Sincerely,
Carol Miller
