Obituary

Robert L. Wightman 76, Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.

He was born on August 7, 1944 in Sandusky, to the late Leroy and Edith (Woodruff) Wightman.

Bob served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during the Vietnam War in Germany for 3 years from 1962 to 1965.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky, life member of the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, where he was past commander, member of the 40 & 8, life member of the Amvets Post 17, Sandusky, and the Orioles Club.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda (Artino) Wightman; daughters, Tracey (Wightman) Risner and Tricia (Randy) Patten; grandchildren, Rachel (Tim) Haynes, Ryan Patten, Regan Patten, Ross Patten, Curtis (Ashley) Risner; great-grandchildren, Alice, Layla and Roman Risner, and baby Haynes one on the way; brothers, Vern (Bonnie) Wightman and Keith Wightman; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Wightman in 1989; and son-in-law, Doug Risner in 2021.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 11:30 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:30 P.M. in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Dr. Eric L. Bodenstab will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sandusky with the American Legion Post 83 and V.F.W. Post 2529 Honor Guard providing the military tribute. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the American Legion Post 83, 3615 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.
