Obituary

Mary Kathryn (Riedy) Walton, 95, of Sandusky, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

She was born on April 4, 1926 in Sandusky to the late Arthur and Clara (Cooney) Riedy. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School, raised her family, and later worked for York Steakhouse from 1977-1990 and for Ponderosa Steakhouse from 1990-1994.

She loved to cook and bake. She was an avid Buckeyes, Indians, and Browns fan. Most important to her, however, was her family. She loved family gatherings and loving on her grandkids.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane (Michael) Jesberger and Mary Kay (Dan Jamison) Lippus, both of Sandusky; sons, Rick (Carol) Matter, of Castalia, and Robert Walton, Jr., of Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Walton, Sr.; and sisters, Lucille and Beatrice Riedy.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Cremation will then take place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Meadow Green Memorial Park (East-Side Mausoleum Chapel), Huron. Pastor Ken Hiser will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky. Condolences may be shared online by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.

Rick ,Diane, Mary Kay (I remember as "Punky") I am sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your mother fondly and was so impressed on how she always made me feel part of the family when I would come over to spend time with Rick. She was such a hard worker and deserves to be at rest. You have my sympathy and prayers. Bob Burre
