Obituary

Kenneth Donald Hand, 71, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, January 9, 2021.

He was born on March 29, 1949 in Sandusky and was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Kenn bartended for much of his life.

Kenn was a teddy bear with a heart of gold and a smile that was infectious. When you were around him you couldn’t help but smile and he would do anything to get a laugh. He loved his sisters beyond words and would drop everything when one of them was in need. His children, grandchildren, nieces and great-nieces, and nephews, and great-nephews were the light of his life and he loved them unconditionally. He loved watching sports, playing golf, and he “thought” he could ride motorcycles. Kenn was a good man and will be missed by many.

Kenn is survived by his children, Michelle Maronge, Stephanie (Keith) Jurenka, and Jeff (Shannon) Hand; grandchildren, Julian Maronge, Thane and Phoebe Jurenka; and Abigail Hand; sisters, Donna (Robert) Rutger, Jackie (Bruce) Sharp, and Mary Brunner; best friend, Chad Lorcher; and many nieces and great-nieces, and nephews and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond Hand and Mary Lou (Cheatham) Hand.

At Kenn’s request, cremation will take place and private family services will be observed at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist Kenn’s family.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements. Condolences may be shared online by visitingtoftfuneralhome.com.

To the Family of Kenny Hand,

I am praying that the Lord will keep each one of you lifted up. I share in your pain at the "Homegoing" of my dear friend. We have been friends for over 40 years and always he was a gentleman. One of the nicest, humorous persons I know and was a big part of the "Great class of 1967." He was loved and respected by all. To say that he will be greatly missed is an understatement, but we know that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. In the days ahead when the phones stop ringing, the cards stop, and friends and family have returned to their respective homes, we pray the wonderful memories will overtake the sorrow, and God's peace will abide.
Prayerfully, Evangelist Gail M. Tate, class of 67'
