Katherine Bell 94, residing in Dayton and formerly of Sandusky, died Thursday, April 22, 2021, in the Village at the Greene, Dayton.

She was born in Angier, North Carolina to Lorene Martin and Roscoe Ragland, April 15, 1927. At an early age, Katherine moved to Wilmington, Delaware and later to Cleveland, Ohio with her beloved husband, Robert Bell. From this union, Katherine and Robert adopted two sons, Richard and Mitchell Bell. Katherine moved with her husband from Cleveland to Sandusky, Ohio where they resided until Robert’s passing.

Throughout her life, Katherine was a caregiver. She cared for her children as well as her mother and mother-in-law. Katherine enjoyed her role as caregiver. She was a sweet, spirited, very kind and loving and a devout worshipper of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

After the passing of her husband, Katherine moved to Wilmington, Delaware in which she delighted in her job working at a senior’s center, caring for the elderly by feeding and reading to them. Katherine was 85 years old at the time. She subsequently moved to live with her son, Mitchell. Katherine was treated like a queen.

She enjoyed her life in Dayton. Katherine was a member of New Destiny Fellowship Church, Wilmington, Delaware and others, including Mt. Olivet Church of God in Christ, Dayton, Ohio.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her beloved son, Mitchell (Eulanda) Bell, Huber Heights, OH; sisters, Helen Bellamy, Georgia, Hildred McCormick, Springlake, NC, Barbara (Paris) Jones, Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Samuel (Pat) Ragland, Fayetteville, NC, Carlton (Shirley) Ragland, Durham, NC, Alvin (Hilda) Ragland, Cary, NC; sisters-in-law, Dorcus Ragland and Grace Martin; grandchildren, Brennan Bell, Allen (Keisha) Knerr, Amber Bell, India Dixon, and Kanda Pope; five great-grandchildren; devoted nieces, Katherine Ragland and Sheila Martin; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Bell, son, Richard Bell, brothers, Shawfell and Wayne Ragland, Bernis and Milton Martin.

We all loved her but God loved her best; He called her home to receive her golden crown and rest.

I wanted to share my condolences to the family of Mother Bell. She welcomed me to the Mother’s Row at New Destiny Fellowship I was considered the young caregiver of the row, since I was the only 28 yr. old allowed on the row. Your Mother Blessed me with time, smiles, prayers, stories and wisdom. There was never a dull moment in our row, because of her. Thank you for sharing her life with me. The times we had were necessary for me to regroup, forgive others and take chances on life experiences, I never would have, had I not met her. I recall taking a picture of her hands on the Bible. It means so much as it represents the hands that prayed over all of our mothers who prayed over us “young ones” whether we knew it or not. I’m in tears of joy knowing that although she isn’t here in the physical, she’s with God now. I love her!!
