Obituary

Julianna Leidorf MacGregor

Julianna Viola (Leidorf) MacGregor, 90, of Sandusky, passed away on Friday morning, May 14, 2021 at Providence Care Center.

She was born in Sandusky on March 15, 1931 and lived her entire life in the Sandusky area. She graduated from Margaretta High School in 1949 and was a life-long communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

During her lifetime, she worked at several companies, including Philco, Brown Derby Restaurant, NASA, and Cedar Point Breakers Hotel. As a volunteer, she assisted with eye tests at city schools and tutored ESL at the Sandusky Public Library. Additionally, she collected worn out dolls, refurbished them by sewing clothes of her own design, and donated them to local charities.

She was a voracious reader of biographies and novels. An avid fan of Cleveland Indians baseball, she followed the players from spring training to the last out of the season. She also enjoyed flower gardening, baking cookies, pies, and cakes, and keeping in touch with family.

Julianna is survived by her three sons, Thomas Richard (Linda), of Danbury, CT, Timothy Gregory (Kathleen), of Toledo, and Patrick John (Elizabeth), of Boynton Beach, FL; three loving grandchildren, Alexander MacGregor, Shannon (Drew) Hastings, and Kiri-Lin MacGregor; brother-in-law, John Kinn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 67 years, Jack Richard MacGregor; parents, Louis and Rosa Amelia (Hasely) Leidorf; eight sisters, Frances (Cyril) Good, Loretta Leidorf, Ellen (Paul) Stein, Rosella (Earl) Sturbaum, Lenora “Pearl” (Thomas) Riggs, Louise (Quintin Schoewe; John) Kinn, Esther (Wayne) Greene, and Irene (Charles) Sanders; and a brother, Leroy (Ruth Chamberlain) Leidorf.

The family wishes to thank June Sanders Leber, Helen Sturbaum, the dedicated staff of Providence Care Center, and Stein Hospice for end-of-life care.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A vigil service, beginning at 5:30 p.m., will close the evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sandusky, with Rev. Chris Jesudhason presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Julianna’s name to the following Sandusky, OH 44870 organizations: Serving Our Seniors, 310 E. Boalt St., Meals-on-Wheels, 620 E. Water St., the Sandusky Public Library, 114 W. Adams St., or one’s favorite charity.

Hello, I have such fond memories of Aunt Julianna, I only knew her as "June Bug" from my Dad- her brother Lee (Leroy). I send condolences to my cousins. After my parents passed, I missed them so- the wisdom they had and the family stories. Best wishes to all her family. Sandra Leidorf Farmer

My Mom graduated in '49 and Her 49ers would get together on a regular schedule. She would come home with a renewed zest for life. I always looked forward to hearing the details. Her friend and classmate Suzie was always in the mix. They, the class of 1949 at Margaretta High are in Heaven!!! Timmy
