Johnny Ray McCoy, 70, of Sandusky, went peacefully to his eternal home on May 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at Providence Care Center.

Born on November 3, 1950 in Meridian, Mississippi to Ervin and Helen (Grant) McCoy, he moved to Sandusky soon after his birth. He worked for Scott Paper and later the N&W Railroad until his disability.

He was a member of Agape Love Ministries. He had a charismatic personality and never met a stranger. He enjoyed life, loved to laugh, listen to music, and spend time with his family; he was always the life of the party. His favorite role in life was being Dad to his only daughter, Papa to his granddaughters, and Papa J to his great-grandsons.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Melanie (Paul) Smoot; granddaughters, Alexis (Caleb, Sr.) Young and Brandi Smoot; great-grandsons, Carter, Cannon, and Caleb Young, Jr.; sister, Marlene (Kenny) Pettis; his friend since childhood, Robert Parker, all of Sandusky; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and many friends and relatives.

Friends may call on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Agape Love Ministries, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Providence Care Center for the Activities Department, 2025 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends. Johnny Ray's mother, Helen, and my mother, Annie Castile, were best friends so we all grew up together. Johnny Ray was one of a kind and he will truly be missed by many. R.I.H. Love from the Castile and Lindsey families.
