Obituary

Harvey Erwin, 84, Sandusky, died Monday, January 18, 2021, in MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland.

Harvey was born on June 1, 1936 and raised in Rome, GA to the late, Louise Chatman and Clarence Erwin.

After serving in the U.S. Army for over 7 years and moved to Sandusky and worked for Sandusky Dressed Beef and Bechtel-McLaughlin retiring in 2006.

He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Temple Church, where he served as Trustee and on the brotherhood boards.

Harvey enjoyed attending church, cooking, puzzles, watching westerns, and spending quiet quality time with family.

He is survived by his children, Monte (Jocelyn) Erwin and Tonya Erwin, both of Toledo, Emmanuella Erwin, Sandusky; grandson, Ja’mez Young, Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Earlene (Mayfield) Erwin; parents; and two older sisters.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Bishop Rufus G.W. Sanders will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting toftfuneralhome.com.

Monte and Family,

I worked with Harvey for over 17 years at Bechtel. He was an amazing guy. My deepest sympathies to his family.
