Obituary

Fritz E. W. Brosien, 91, of Sandusky, OH, passed away on February 16, 2021 at home in Sandusky.

Fritz was born in Berlin, Germany to Willi Brosien and Wilhelmine (Gottschalk) Brosien on Aug. 20, 1929. He married Kathie M. (Stroup) Brosien on Aug. 5, 1962 in Mishawaka, IN.

He grew up in Germany during World War II and was taken prisoner by the Russians at 12 years old. At war’s end, he started training as an engineer and eventually moved to the United States in 1957 where he continued to work as an engineer, specializing in air pollution control equipment for the Wheelabrator Corp., Ohio Ferro-Alloys, ECOPIC, and serving as an independent contractor.

Fritz raised his family in North Canton, OH where he lived for nearly 50 years. He was a lifelong sailor and a long-standing member of Bay Point in Marblehead, OH.

He is survived by his wife, Kathie Brosien; son, Kevin Brosien, of Munroe Falls, OH; daughter, Mara Schurdell, and her husband, Jeffrey Schurdell, along with Fritz’s grandchildren, Madelynne Schurdell and Ian Schurdell, all of Sandusky, OH; and sister, Eva Voss, of Berlin, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials can be sent to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.

A memorial service will be held in the coming months. Please contact family members for details.
